I'm up in Vienna, VA (near DC) visiting my friend Karl. I came up here via train last saturday/sunday (it was a 14+ hour ride). My mom took me and my brother to Jacksonville, we went to the zoo, then I got dropped off at the train station.
So far, I've been to the American Indian museum, Building Museum, National Portrait Gallery, National Zoo, and a bunch of the monuments. I have a LOT of pictures, but I only have my eee pc, so I probably wont do much with them until I get back home.
In other news, I got my grades for the semester. Better than I expected, really: Archaeology: A- Archaeological Myths and Legends: A Japanese Calligraphy: A History of Anthropology: B+ Japanese III: C

[10 Dec 2008|09:50pm] |
A fly built a castle, a tall and mighty castle. There came to the castle the Crawling Louse. “Who, who’s in the castle? Who, who’s in your house? said the Crawling Louse. “I, I, the Languishing Fly. And who art thou?” “I’m the Crawling Louse.” Then came to the castle the Leaping Flea. “Who, who’s in the castle?” said the Leaping Flea. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse. And who art thou?” “I’m the Leaping Flea.” Then came to the castle the Mischievous Mosquito. “Who, who’s in the castle?” said the Mischievous Mosquito. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse, and I, the Leaping Flea. And who art thou?” “I’m the Mischievous Mosquito.” Then came to the castle the Murmuring Mouse. “Who, who’s in the castle?” said the Murmuring Mouse. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse, and I, the Leaping Flea, and I, the Mischievous Mosquito. And who art thou?” “I’m the Murmuring Mouse.” Then came to the castle the Wriggly Lizard. “Who, who’s in the castle?” said the Wriggly Lizard. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse, and I, the Leaping Flea, and I, the Mischievous Mosquito, and I, the Murmuring Mouse. And who art thou?” “I’m the Wriggly Lizard.” Then came to the castle Patricia Fox. “Who, who’s in the castle?” said Patricia Fox. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse, and I, the Leaping Flea, and I, the Mischievous Mosquito, and I, the Murmuring Mouse, and I, the Wriggly Lizard. And who art thou?” “I’m Patricia Fox.” Then came to the castle Highjump the Hare. “Who, who’s in the castle?” said Highjump the Hare. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse, and I, the Leaping Flea, and I, the Mischievous Mosquito, and I, the Murmuring Mouse, and I, the Wriggly Lizard, and I, Patricia Fox. And who art thou?” “I’m Highjump the Hare.” Then came to the castle arctic fox Greytail. “Who, who’s in the castle?” said arctic fox Greytail. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse, and I, the Leaping Flea, and I, the Mischievous Mosquito, and I, the Murmuring Mouse, and I, the Wriggly Lizard, and I, Patricia Fox, and I, Highjump the Hare. And who art thou?” “I’m arctic fox Greytail.” Then came to the castle Bear Thicklegs. “Who, who’s in the castle? Who, who’s in your house?" said Bear Thicklegs. “I, I, the Languishing Fly, and I, the Crawling Louse, and I, the Leaping Flea, and I, the Mischievous Mosquito, and I, the Murmuring Mouse, and I, the Wriggly Lizard, and I, Patricia Fox, and I, Highjump the Hare, and I, arctic fox Greytail. And who art thou?”
“I’m Rumbling Thunder! I’ll tumble you under! I’m Bear Thicklegs!” And he laid his thick paw on the castle, and smashed it!

So, I guess that guy won that election thing. Pretty neat, I guess.
Only four more weeks of school, then finals. And I only have two finals! Woo! Also, my schedule for the rest of the semester is pretty cool:
Monday: Class, Class Tuesday No class, no class, no class (veterans day) Wednesday: no class, class Thursday: no class, class, class Friday: no class, class
Monday: class, class Tuesday: class, class, no class Wednesday: class, class Thursday: class, class, no class Friday: class, class
Then the next week it's normal class, minus thanksgivings break, then the week after that is the last week of school, then finals!
Also, I'm probably gonna go up to the Washington DC area this winter break to visit my friend Karl and my aunt and uncle up there. Probably will leave the saturday after finals end (even though I only have 2 finals, one of them is on that friday :/) by train and stay up there for two weeks, then he's gonna drive me back and stay down here for a week. Should be fun.

こにちは、みんな。元気?きょう、私はちゅうかんテストがあった。悪くないと思う。
Ok, enough of that. What's up? I've been doing a lot of school stuff. Paper every week, etc. I finally went and did my grad check at the registrar's office. This morning registration for next semester opened for me, so I signed up for a few things.
So, for quite a while now I've been wanting to make some music, so... I bought some stuff to start making some electronic music. I haven't gotten it all yet, but I think it should be pretty fun to play around with. For now I'll be using a Korg Kaossilator, which is a pretty neat little, portable, touch-pad controlled synthesizer; a Korg Electribe EA-1, which is a sequencer I got on ebay for pretty cheap - it's one of the things I'm still waiting for; an inexpensive Tapco mixer, I got cheap from an online store as sort of an open-box item - it should be here tomorrow along with the wires I ordered; and lastly, the Korg DS-10 software synthesizer for the Nintendo DS, which is really neat. I recommend checking out some youtube videos on it or something, because it's really cool.
Anyway, so yeah, hopefully I can actually figure out how to use all that stuff and make something that doesn't sound like complete garbage. We shall see.
EDIT: Man, my schedule for spring is gonna be CRAZY. All over the place.

So, I'll be in William, Diffenbaugh, Bellamy, the stadium, Carothers, AND the Anthropology Department, though that one's not on there yet because I have to call them to get the reference number. Not gonna be fun.

Well, then! I got my money from FSU yesterday, so I went and bought my birthday present from myself/my mom. From that amazon list of stuff I want for my camera, I got the lens, UV filter, and 8 gig CF card. I also signed up for the free trial of Amazon Prime, so I was able to get it all shipped here overnight for really cheap. Which means, it got here today! So, me and Kelly went outside and I tested it out, here are some pics, testing the depth of field and macro abilities.
( PICTURES R HUEG )
So, overall, I'm really, really liking it so far.

So, that test I mentioned before... the one I didn't study at all for. Yeah, I totally owned that test. 47.5/50, the average for all 3 Japanese III classes was 38.5.

I got up this morning around 6:30 and I had to write a paper. So, I worked on that until about 10:30, when I had to leave for class. Then I walked to class, and got there a couple minutes late (doesn't really matter that much), and so I sat down and started writing. I got really sleepy when the teacher started talking about Edward Tylor and his idea called animism (which is a wide spread idea now, but it started with him). Then I had 8 minutes to get across campus so I could take a Japanese test, for which I had not studied at all because I was writing a paper. So, I kicked that test's ass, and then I went to Burger King and ate some food with Kelly (it's right across the street from her place now). Then I chilled at her place until about 3, when I had to go to my last class way out at the Anthro dept. So I went there, turned in my paper, listened to a pretty interesting lecture about the Cardiff Giant. And then I went home and typed this.
That was my day. I'm kinda tired.

Damn you Livejournal, why did you suddenly put ads on my page!
Anyway, first week of school is over. I think I'm gonna like all my classes. Still don't like the fact that one of my classes has a paper every week, but oh well.
StarMetro (the bus service) sucked a lot this week. Probably mostly a combination of the weather, the increased student traffic, and the construction at the bus terminal... but still. The worst was on Wednesday. It took me 3 hours to get the ~2 miles home (straight down 1 street, too, not even through some maze), and that was with me walking from the bus terminal!
So anyway, three day weekend, woo! And... I have to read a lot. Then write a 2 - 3 page paper. But really, it shouldn't be that bad.
Now then, buy me some stuff for my camera plz?

So, ever since I added my AIM name to my facebook profile, every once in a while I get one of those bots that randomly sends a message to try to get a reply. Mostly they're mildly annoying, but sometimes they're funny. Here's the one I just got:
(8:59:03 PM) KludgeyTrout: One trout to rule them all, one trout to find them, one trout to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

Well, I've been to all of my classes except Japanese Calligraphy now (and that's only on friday). Other than the fact that I have a 2 - 3 page paper due EVERY WEEK and that it's way out at Anthro West, the Archaeological Myths and Legends class seems like it could be awesome. And the fact that there are no tests somewhat makes up for all the papers.
Today it rained a bunch more. And you would think, with all the walking I did, I would have been soaked at least once... but it didn't happen. I had some crazy luck, like within seconds of me getting to where I was going it would start poring, and then when I needed to leave it stopped. Pretty awesome.

Well, first day of the semester. Was pretty easy. Fundamental Archaeology should be alright, only a few papers and tests... and field trips! Though, those are on Saturdays. But still, the Museum of History is pretty cool, as is the Mission.
I also went to a pizza buffet place called Stevi B's. I've known about it for a pretty long time, but I'd never been. It was much better than I was expecting. They had this crazy baked potato pizza that was just insane and awesome. And also condensed-diabeetus deserts that were delicious, but I couldn't eat much of.

[23 Aug 2008|08:36am] |
Alright, so add/drop started this morning and I made the changes to my schedule.

Hopefully "Arch Myths & Legends" is as cool as the title makes it seem like it could be.
And now my earliest class on Tuesday/Thursday is 11:00 AM instead of 9:30 AM. The only down side to that is I only have 5 minutes to get from Williams to RBB (one of the buildings next to Bellemy)... assuming class gets out on time. At least it's down hill? I might start riding my bike to school again, in which case it probably wouldn't be a problem.
Also I have a class way out at the Anthropology department, which is down Tennessee St. a ways. But I have a couple hours between my previous class and that, so I shouldn't have any problem getting there in time.

So, there I was, sleeping. And BAM, suddenly seven cats just goin' crazy in my room. And then I wasn't asleep any more. And that was 2 hours ago :/
Oh well.
So today I might go to FSU to get a couple of my textbooks. Mostly my Intermediate Japanese book... which for some reason can not be found online for less than $10 OVER the retail price. What the hell?

[18 Aug 2008|04:01pm] |
So... school starts next monday! Here's my schedule, at the moment.

Right now I'm planning on dropping Plants & People to try to get in to Archaeology of Myths and Legends, and to move that 9:30 class in to the 11:00 slot... but I just looked at the syllabus for Plants and People and it actually seems like it could be a really cool class. But I'll still probably drop it. Unless I wanted to actually try to take both, but that might be a lot of work, so I dunno.
